Application
SIMATIC ET 200pro is the new modular I/O system with high IP65/66/67 degree of protection for local, cabinet-free applications. ET 200pro distinguishes itself through a small frame size and an innovative installation concept. ET 200pro can be optimized and very flexibly adapted to the requirements of the corresponding automation task with respect to the connection method, required I/Os and fieldbus connection. New features such as the integrated PROFIsafe safety technology, the PROFINET interface and the ability to hotswap modules permit it to be used for a wide range of applications.

With the integrated motor starters, conveyor applications can be implemented optimally, or drives of up to 5.5 kW can be controlled cabinet-free

Design
The tried-and-tested separation of module and bus/power connection technology, which has already been used for the ET 200eco, is now also used for the digital and analog expansion modules of the ET 200pro. For the interface module this allows use of the T-functionality for the bus and 24 V power supply, and for the expansion modules it permits pre-wiring of sensor/actuator connections. This permanent wiring allows exactly one electronics module to be hot-swapped in the event of a fault without having to switch off the whole station. It can continue to operate fault-free while the module is being replaced. This ensures very high plant availability. When an electronics component is replaced, the whole I/O wiring can remain on the terminal module and does not have to be marked or removed.

The ET 200pro modules are usually designed in two or three parts. Interface and power modules as well as digital and analog expansion modules comprise:
- A bus connector which constitutes the backplane bus of the system

- A terminal module

SIMATIC ET 200AL is a distributed I/O device with degree of protection IP65/67 and easy handling and installation.


Due to the high degree of protection and robustness, small dimensions and low weight, ET 200AL is especially suitable for use at the machine and on moving plant sections.

SIMATIC ET 200 permits the user to access digital and analog signals and IO-Link data via PROFIBUS or PROFINET at low cost.

Design
- Variable and modular station configuration:
Using a bus cable, the I/O modules are interconnected, or connected to the interface module or the ET 200SP I/O system via an internal backplane bus (ET connection). The modules can be installed up to 15 m apart from each other. IO-Link I/O modules can be connected to any IO-Link master with IP67 or IP20 degree of protection.
- Compact dimensions for use in extremely confined spaces:
the width of the interface module is 45 mm; the I/O modules are 30 mm or 45 mm wide.
- Can be mounted directly in a machine or assembly line:
screw fastening through the front or side in all mounting positions, both on even surfaces or on aluminum mounting rails using sliding blocks.
- Maximum configuration:
PROFINET: max. 32 I/O modules with 1430 bytes of input/output data each.
PROFIBUS DP: max. 32 I/O modules with 244 bytes of input/output data each.
ET 200SP: max. 16 I/O modules.
- Module wiring:
The module is connected via the internal backplane bus (ET connection) by means of a bus cable and power is supplied via power supply cables, in both cases with the M8 connection system. Different types of pre-assembled cables in various lengths are available for this purpose. The identical coloring of the system interfaces and system cables and the meaningful interface designations permit quick and easy assignment during wiring.
IO-Link I/O modules are connected to IO-Link masters by means of an unshielded M12 connecting cable. The signals and the energy are transferred via this cable.
- Signal wiring:
I/O modules with M8 or M12 connection technology for the connection of digital signals.

Mode of operation
Via PROFINET, PROFIBUS or ET 200SP, a central PLC can access the ET 200AL I/O modules of the ET in the same way as central I/O modules.


Communication is carried out fully automatically between the I/O controller in the central PLC and the IM 157-1 or IM 155. Interference-free internal data transfer using shielded cables.

Comprehensive, module-specific diagnostics with plain text messages enables rapid location and elimination of system faults in the shortest possible time. Annoying plant downtimes belong to the past, and availability is significantly increased.

Configuration, parameterization and diagnostics
The ET 200AL is configured and assigned parameters via TIA Portal, STEP 7 or the configuration tool of the controller used.
The IO-Link Master is configured using the S7-PCT (Port Configuration Tool).

Installation
ET 200eco PN I/O devices can be easily installed in every position, i.e. vertical or horizontal installation is possible. They are screwed from the front or side into a machine or assembly line directly on site, where they use M12 connections to connect sensors and actuators. Installation can take place on a level surface, the mounting rail or on aluminum support profiles using sliding blocks.
Power supply

Two power supply units are available which can be used on the one hand by the I/O device and also looped through to an additional I/O device (line topology). The I/O devices with M12 L-coded power connectors can be supplied or forwarded 2x 12 A and the I/O devices with M12 A-coded power connectors 2x 4 A.

In the I/O devices with M12 A-coded power connectors, the power supplies can alternatively be supplied and forwarded via an additional terminal block with up to 10 A.

Additionally, the fed power supplies can be distributed over 4 lines by means of a voltage distributor. The distributed power supplies are electronically protected against short-circuits.

PROFINET is connected to the ET 200eco PN via an M12 connection and can be looped through to an additional PROFINET device.

Comprehensive diagnostic functions are available for checking the mode of operation of the ET 200eco PN.

The diagnostic information data is indicated by LEDs on the module and can be evaluated by software on the PG/PC or by the PLC.

Configuration
The ET 200eco PN is configured and assigned parameters via TIA Portal, STEP 7 or the configuration tool of the controller used.

A GSD file is available for connecting the I/O devices which are not configured with TIA Portal to the PROFINET controller. This can be loaded into the configuration tool of the PROFINET controller and provides all relevant information in plain text for the parameterization of the ET 200eco PN.
