Automotive Products
Schaffner solutions for use in e-mobility can be found in automotive power electronics (EMI filters, magnetic components), keyless locking systems (passive entry/passive go), electronic immobilizers, and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
Low Frequency Antennas
The door handle keyless antenna - also called LFA antenna - is placed in the door handle of a car. Schaffner keyless antennas provide long range of operation, compact design, and best quality.
Passive entry passive start (PEPS) is an automotive RF system enabling access to the vehicle without physically activating the key fob. A low frequency field communication is used to detect the presence of the key fob in the proximity of the vehicle. Since 2002, Schaffner has been a leading player in the design and manufacture of low frequency antenna (LFA) for PEPS applications. More recently, and thanks to its continuous innovation, Schaffner is leading and excelling in the design and manufacture of long-range antenna, whose longer version allows OEMs to reduce the number of antennas installed on the vehicle.

EMI Filters
High Power EMI Filters for EV applications avoid noise generated by EVs (electric drives and SMPS) spreading around the vehicle.
The high dV/dt and di/dt generated by switched mode power supplies - such as Drive Inverters, DC/DC, OBC - generate high frequency noise that could interfere with the sensitive electronics that control an electric vehicle. Schaffner HVDC filters are fully customized and engineered for every specific application, so achieving great filtering performance with a compact size.

HV-Transformers
HV transformers are safety-related magnetic components in the On-Board-Chargers (OBC) of electric vehicles (EVs).
Power electronic transformers are magnetic components ensuring power transmission between two electronic circuits without the need for a direct electrical connection. Power transmission is achieved though magnetic field coupling. Designing these components requires multidisciplinary skills including power electronics, electromagnetics, thermal management, and materials science. At Schaffner, we can support our customers in the design and manufacture of best-in-class transformers for their OBC systems.

Power Factor Corrector (PFC) Drosseln
Schaffner offers carefully designed PFC chokes and choke modules for OBC applications.
The PFC choke connected to the PFC stage is a normal choke that works with an alternating current and variable current ripple. Schaffner PFC chokes/modules offer the best compromise between component size, losses and costs.

DC Inductors (Filtering Choke)
DC inductors are used in a DC-DC converter input/output for current ripple control and HF EMI filtering.

Common and Differential Mode Chokes
Schaffner provides horizontal and vertical common mode chokes for automotive applications.
Schaffner common chokes are attenuating common and differential mode EMI noise, connecting to AC-AC or DC-DC automotive power electronics. The benefits of Schaffner chokes are high attenuation, good temperature behavior, compact design, and multiple PCB-mounting options.
